Cybercrimes Separate US-China Relations

The US governmental commission on internet and computer security has issued its annual report with a significantly coloured opinion about the Chinese authorities and their regime in regard to cyber protection. The US authorities claim that several Chinese attacks over the communication with US satellites were evident and that such attacks were consistent with the laws in Chines. The Asian state, however, seems to have little sympathy and denies being involved in any way with the cyber attacks.

The US satellites concerned were claimed to have been exposed to hacker attacks by Chinese individuals from the state in 2007 and 2008. The official report of the commission, published in Bloomberg magazine and publicly available for download through the open source media center of the US government, contains allegations that Chinese special software experts have managed to obtain data from the satellites and to interfere with their proper functioning which disturbed their monitoring processes and their main activities. Logically, this has incurred significant costs and data losses to the US.

China, on the other hand, responded recently in a harsh and intolerable way stating that Chinese services, authorities or any other engagement from the Chinese side is not ’worth a comment'confidently denying any allegations from the US. Furthermore, the Chinese confirm that they are also a subject to cyber attacks and they have tough and strict legislation governing such matters as cybercrimes. No matter what the military law appears to be, the Chinese authorities are more than convinced that no leak of any kind int he governmental cores can be the cause of the data interference with the US satellites.

Such allegations are simply not worth a comment (Chinese Foreign Secretary)

The relationship between the two countries thus remain quite unstable in terms of official political correspondence. Despite enjoying good trade relations, both countries seem to be unhappy with each other’s military and intelligence approaches and policies which leads consequently to disputes of this kind. And while the US might be more concerned about how to obtain red diesel technologies from China, the Asian country is actually looking forward to radically reforming its military industry and intelligence cyber-related services.
